Tyus Diaz: 2022

Tyus Diaz graduated from Parkview High School in 2022. He made Arkansas All-Region and All-State Bands every year since becoming eligible, as well as All-State Wind Ensemble on clarinet and All-State Jazz Band on baritone saxophone. As a stand-out leader in his school band, Tyus participated in many ensembles at his school, musical pit orchestra, jazz band, jazz combo, and the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra’s top youth orchestra and jazz ensemble. Between these groups he played piccolo, flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, oboe, and bassoon.

Brandon Dorris, Tyus’ private music teacher says, “as a classical clarinetist, Tyus has made consistent progress in technique, tone, and musicality during the years we have worked together. Tyus has also shown an affinity and aptitude for jazz improvisation and style at a level that always exceeds my expectations. I have been consistently impressed with his dedication and practice ethic for both saxophone technique and jazz theory”. Tyus will be attending University of Central Arkansas this fall.
